Maclachlan is the name of a Scottish clan. It means 'Son of Lachlann'.[2] Lachlann is a Gaelic name deriving from Lochlann[3], which means 'land of lochs', 'loch' being the Scottish term for 'lake'. This name was used to denote people from Scandinavia, or specifically, Norway.[4]
